3G/4G Users in Pakistan Reach 109.72 Million

Pakistan had 109.72 million 3G and 4G clients by the end of January 2022, up from 107.68 million at the end of December 2021, marking a 1.52 million increase in the month of December 2021.

According to numbers released by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority, the number of cellular customers in Pakistan increased by 1.8 million to 190.51 million by the end of January 2022, up from 188.71 million in December 2021. (PTA).

Cellular mobile teledensity has climbed to 85.94 percent by the end of December 2021, and to 86.71 percent by the end of January 2022. Total teledensity increased from 87.08 percent to 87.85 percent over this time.

Monthly Next Generation Mobile Service (NGMS) penetration had increased to 49.94 percent by the end of January 2022, up from 49.04 percent in December 2021.

The overall number of 3G customers on Jazz in January 2022 was 6.712 million, down from 6.809 million in December, a decrease of 0.097 million. However, the number of Jazz 4G customers climbed from 34.750 million to 35.324 million during this time.

The number of Zong 3G subscribers had declined from 3.650 million to 3.561 million by the end of January. The number of 4G clients increased from 26.389 million to 26.953 million during the time period studied.

Telenor’s 3G subscribers fell from 4.090 million at the end of December to 3.994 million at the end of January. By the end of January, the number of 4G customers had risen to 20.385 million, up from 19.824 million the previous month.

By the end of January, there were 3.877 million Ufone 3G users, up from 3.871 million the previous month. Ufone’s 4G users climbed by over a half million to 7.653 million in the month that concluded on January 31, 2022, up from 7.112 million in December 2021.

It’s worth noting that Ufone’s proportion of new 4G subscribers has climbed to well over 20% following the acquisition of additional spectrum, up from around 4% prior to the deal.

Because of its enhanced spectrum, Ufone was just voted the best network in terms of download and upload speeds by PTA. Given the current trajectory, Ufone’s 4G network is likely to continue to gain a considerable number of new users in the months ahead.
