Surface Notebook 5, Microsoft’s next flagship laptop, is expected in the second half of 2022. It’s not even March yet, but according to WindowsPrime, we already have a full leak on all of the device’s characteristics.
Surface Laptop 5 will be offered in two sizes, as well as separate Intel and AMD options, according to the tech blog. The design is likely to be nearly identical to that of the Surface Laptop 4.
According to the leak, it will be available in 13.5-inch and 15-inch versions. The screen resolution of the 13.5-inch model will be 2256 x 1504, while the larger laptop will have a resolution of 2496 x 1664. Both will have a 120Hz refresh rate, Dolby Vision, a 3:2 aspect ratio, and Microsoft’s PixelSense Flow support.
Under the hood of the 13.5-inch model, Intel Core i5-1240P, Intel Core i7-1280P, and AMD Ryzen 5 6680U CPU CPUs will be offered. For the 15-inch laptop, AMD Ryzen 7 6980U and Intel Core i7-1280P will be the only processor options.
8GB, 16GB, or 32GB LPDDR4X RAM and 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB SSDs will be available on both laptops. The AMD processors will be paired with RDNA 2 GPUs, while the Intel variant will be equipped with Iris Xe iGPUs.
The Ryzen laptops are expected to last up to 21 hours on a single charge, while Intel laptops will last only 19 hours.
Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.1, 2 x USB C ports with USB 4.0/Thunderbolt 4, 1 x USB A, a 3.5mm audio connector, and the Surface Connect port will be available for communication. You’ll get Windows 11 and a free 30-day trial of Microsoft Office 365 in terms of software. In Matte Black, Sandstone, Platinum, and Ice Blue, the laptops will come with a one-year guarantee.
Pricing is yet to be determined, but we will learn more in the coming months.
