Reverse wireless charging isn’t a brand-new concept. It allows you to charge accessories by just placing them on the back of your phone, although Apple may change that in the future.
Apple is working on a new technology that would allow iPhones and iPads to charge accessories through their screens, according to a newly discovered Apple patent. The patent was discovered on the US Patent & Trademark Office portal, and it goes into great detail on the novel reverse wireless charging mechanism.

This functionality will be powered by a double-sided wireless charging component that can charge from both the front and back, according to the patent. A metallic shield will surround this charging component on all sides.
Even while an item is being charged through the screen, one portion of the screen will remain functional, making this a better application than ordinary reverse wireless charging. It’s unclear whether the screen’s charging area will have any display output while it’s charging.
It will be used to charge AirPods, Apple Watches, Apple Pencils, and other Apple products. It’s unclear whether third-party accessories will be supported as well.
Take this information with a grain of salt, as this is simply a patent that may never see the light of day.
