The Pakistan Super League (PSL) began without the pomp and circumstance of an official opening ceremony for the first time in its history. Nonetheless, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has made plans to entertain the fans at National Stadium Karachi ahead to the commencement of the PSL 7’s first match.
The curtain raiser began with the national anthem of Pakistan, followed by a movie commemorating Pakistan cricket’s history on the big screen for the supporters. Three Austrian skydivers plunged from 5,000 feet outside the National Stadium Karachi after the moving homage to Pakistan cricket. To kick off the festivities, the skydivers brought in the official ball for the PSL 7’s first match and gave it to the umpires.
Superstars Atif Aslam and Aima Baig added to the excitement of the fans by performing the PSL 7 anthem, ‘Agay Dekh,’ before PCB Chairman Ramiz Raja and Prime Minister Imran Khan officially launched the PSL 7 via a video package.
The curtain-raiser ended with a fireworks display as the captains took to the field for the toss of PSL 7’s first match.
