Xiaomi is rumoured to be working on the MIX 5 flagship smartphone series. The lineup could include two models: the Xiaomi MIX 5 and the Xiaomi MIX 5 Pro, with the Pro model reportedly sporting the company’s own Surge C2 ISP.
For the uninitiated, an Image Signal Processor, or ISP (as the name suggests), is a device that processes images and videos captured by the phone’s camera. The better it is, the better the finished product will look.
The Xiaomi MIX 5 and MIX 5 Pro have been given the model numbers L1A and L1, respectively. The Surge C1, the first Surge ISP, was introduced last year alongside the MIX Fold.
According to Xiaomiui, the ‘MIPISEL’ feature can be found in the MIX 5 Pro’s Mi code. The Surge C1 chip found on the MIX fold and Xiaomi’s unannounced flip phone is related to this feature.
According to rumours, the MIX 5 and MIX 5 Pro will have different camera sensors and processors.
According to reports, the MIX 5 Pro will support the second-generation Surge C2 ISP as well as the current Surge C1. The MIX 5 may also include the Surge C1 chip, though no information on the C2 is available.

Surge C1 is in charge of the MIX Fold’s multi-functional telephoto camera, which is combined with liquid-lens technology. The Surge C1’s 3A algorithm controlled autofocus, automatic white balance, and automatic exposure, allowing users to take better photos in low light conditions.
Camera Details
The Xiaomi MIX 5 and MIX 5 Pro will have a front-facing camera with a resolution of 48MP. The MIX 5’s rear camera setup will include a 50MP primary camera with OIS, a 48MP ultra-wide lens, and a 48MP camera with 2X optical zoom.
In contrast, the MIX 5 Pro will have an OIS-ready 50MP main camera lens, a 48MP ultra-wide lens, and an OIS-assisted 48MP lens with 5X optical zoom.
Sony’s 50MP sensors, such as the MX766 and IMX707, typically have a resolution of 8192 x 6144 pixels. As a result, it is very likely that the MIX 5 and MIX 5 Pro models will include these sensors.
