Sony appears to be preparing to announce the successor to the Xperia 1 III, which was released last summer. The Xperia 1 IV, Sony’s upcoming flagship smartphone, was recently represented in leaks shared by Giznext, providing us with a decent first look at the handset from all angles.
The design is uncannily similar to last year’s Xperia 1 III, with the corners being somewhat more flat this time. The Sony camera shutter button is on the lower right side of the smartphone, with the power button and fingerprint sensor in the middle and the volume rocker above it.
Sony Xperia 1 IV Specs (Rumored)
The Xperia 1 IV is expected to include a 6.5-inch flat display with a selfie camera in the top bezel, according to rumours. The back camera module looks similar to last year’s model, with a triple-camera configuration that includes one that appears to be telescopic and each with a 12MP sensor and an LED flash. On the phone’s bottom edge is a SIM card tray and a USB-C port.

According to the leaked renders, the Sony Xperia 1 IV will feature a headphone jack on the top edge, as well as front-facing stereo speakers for better sound quality. There is, however, no Google Assistant key to be located.
The phone is believed to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip SoC, with up to 16GB of RAM and 256 or 512GB of internal storage. The battery appears to be getting an upgrade from last year’s Xperia 1 III, going from 4,500mAh to 5,000mAh and maybe capable of 45W quick charging.
There has been no formal announcement from the company concerning the launch of this upcoming smartphone as of yet.
