“Voice statuses” will be the name of the new category of status updates. You can use this to record audio messages and add them to your WhatsApp status, as the name suggests. View the screenshot that follows.
A new button will be added as part of the upgrade on the status tab’s bottom. You can rapidly add voice remarks to your status updates by pressing the button with the microphone symbol.
Voice status updates work the same way as regular status updates in that they are only shared with the persons you specify in your privacy settings. Just like all other communications and media exchanged on WhatsApp, the voice notes will be end-to-end encrypted.

Since the functionality is still in development, it is unknown when it will be included in WhatsApp’s stable release. However, since it is already there in WhatsApp Beta, it is certain to make an appearance on the main app sooner rather than later.
