Xiaomi and Oppo to Break Fast Charging Records Soon

When it comes to fast charging technology, Chinese phone manufacturers have always been ahead of the competition. Xiaomi, Vivo, and a few other companies have phones with 120W fast charging that can completely charge a dead battery (4,500 mAh) in only 15-20 minutes.

Of course, Xiaomi and Oppo are working hard to achieve 200W fast charging speeds in the near future. According to Digital Chat Station, a reliable tip source, the two Chinese brands intend to commercialise the technology soon. This means that we can expect to see 200W fast charging in Xiaomi/Oppo phones, or at the very least chargers that can support it, in the near future.

Xiaomi demonstrated 200W fast charging speeds on the Mi 11 Pro last year. The demonstration demonstrated that 200W fast charging technology can completely charge a 4,000 mAh battery in just 8 minutes. The battery was able to reach 50% capacity in 3 minutes and 10% capacity in 44 seconds.

For the time being, there is no official word on when Xiaomi intends to bring 200W fast charging to smartphones and chargers. However, previous leaks indicated that the Chinese brand intends to mass-produce it in Q2 2022.

Oppo began mass production of 125W fast charging technology in 2021, but it is unclear when the company will follow up with 200W fast charging.
