Zong Partners with Huawei & Akhuwat Foundation to Promote Digital Education in Pakistan

Zong and Huawei have partnered with Akhuwat, an interest-free microfinance organization that works to alleviate poverty through microfinance, education, and other programs, to promote digital education in Pakistan and introduce less fortunate students to new learning methods.

Zong, in association with Huawei, will donate 200 tablets to Akhuwat as part of the agreement. Akhuwat provides education services to make digital education accessible to underprivileged children across Pakistan, notably in Sindh’s remote areas.

Akhuwat will be leading the mission of digitally imparting quality learning through high-tech studio facilities, dynamic content, highly skilled teachers, a team of academic and IT specialists, and the tablets donated.

“As an organization that places a high value on the well-being of the underprivileged stratum of society, Zong 4G has always gone above and beyond to integrate them into today’s modern and digital society,” a representative for Zong 4G stated.

“With digitization at the top of our agenda, we’re thrilled to have collaborated with Akhuwat Foundation and to have the opportunity to introduce Pakistan’s poor young to modern learning methods,” she added.

“At the heart of the Huawei ethos is our philosophy in openness and knowledge-sharing,” said Wuhan, who is also the Deputy CEO of Huawei Pakistan. We are committed to assisting Akhuwat Foundation, in conjunction with Zong 4G, in the creation of an ICT talent ecosystem in Pakistan.

Huawei’s goal is to develop an ICT ecosystem that accelerates digital transformation by working freely with both the public and private sectors. Zong believes that the Akhuwat Foundation has all of the resources necessary to create and implement a statewide, open-access e-learning platform.

The transmission center for this e-learning project will be the NJV Government School in Karachi. Classes will be taught by highly certified instructors and broadcast live to students across the country. This project will aid students who cannot afford such advanced study.

The partnership will first focus on 200 students from Sindh’s rural districts, offering online sessions for grades VI to XII. Akhuwat will provide students and parents with training on how to use these devices and connect them to Akhuwat’s LMS (Learning Management System).

Zong is leading Pakistan’s ICT-powered digital revolution and is working to digitise the educational landscape, particularly in the wake of COVID-19, which exposed Pakistan’s vast digital divide.

Zong’s support for the Akhuwat Foundation in its quest to alleviate social inequality is only one example of the company’s dedication to Pakistan. Akhuwat argues that today’s need for a hybrid form of quality education is to nurture children from less privileged homes.

Exposing these children to the technical tools of today’s learning environment provides them a fighting shot to keep up with their peers and prepares them to be future leaders in their areas.

The Huawei tablets will help NJV School achieve its goal of providing a hybrid form of free, high-quality education to pupils from rural Sindh.

These tablets will considerably increase students’ technology skills by allowing them to access apps that boost learning, research, and LMS access, and, most importantly, will prepare them for future technological breakthroughs.
