WhatsApp debuted the disappearing messages function in November 2020, which automatically wiped chats after 24 hours or 7 days. WhatsApp’s auto-deletion feature has been enhanced, allowing users to specify a length of 90 days.
WhatsApp users can now enable the disappearing message function by default for all new individual chats with the latest version.

WhatsApp lets you start new conversations with disappearing messages. In individual chats, each person can turn off or on disappearing messages. In group conversations, however, any group participant can toggle vanishing messages.
After switching off disappearing messages by default, the application notifies all other users.
To activate disappearing texts on your iPhone or Android smartphone, follow these steps: Navigate to Settings > Account > Privacy > Default Message Timer > Choose Duration.
If a user does not open WhatsApp during the next 24 hours, 7 days, or 90 days, the message is immediately deleted from the chat.
