Former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir has made a prediction for the ICC World Cup 2023, which will start on October 5. He specifically mentions Pakistan’s captain Babar Azam in his forecast.
In an interview with Star Sports, Gambhir stated that he expected Babar to score three or four centuries during the competition due to his superb technique. With his skill, Babar Azam, according to Gambhir, could likely score three to four hundreds for Pakistan at this World Cup.
Gambhir had praised the captain of Pakistan last week and expressed faith in his capacity to light up the World Cup with his abilities. When compared to natives, he had underlined that Babar’s excellence is unrivaled.
“Babar Azam possesses every talent necessary to light up this World Cup. Very few players that had a lot of time to bat have I ever seen. I think that Babar Azam has a different caliber than Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Kane Williamson, Joe Root, and David Warner,” stated Gambhir.
With 108 games played for Pakistan, Babar Azam, the current top-ranked ODI batter, has a remarkable resume. 5409 runs, or an average of 58.16, were scored in 105 innings, according to his impressive stats. Babar Azam, who has 19 hundred and 28 fifties to his credit, owns the title of being the fastest player to accumulate 5000 ODI runs, doing so in just 97 innings, breaking Hashim Amla’s previous mark of 101 innings.
The ICC Men’s World Cup 2023 is scheduled to start on October 5 in India, and Babar will captain the team as they open their tournament on October 6 against the Netherlands.
