Realme is Launching its First Premium Flagship on December 9

On December 1st, Qualcomm launched its flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 for Android devices, throwing firms into a frenzy to be the first to launch a smartphone using it.

Xiaomi’s Founder and CEO, Lei Jun, has quietly revealed that the Xiaomi 12 series will be the first in the world to employ the SoC. Motorola, on the other hand, beat Xiaomi to the punch by announcing a December 9th event to unveil the Moto Edge X30.

Madhav Sheth, Vice President of Realme, later confirmed the debut of the GT 2 Pro, which will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. Now, the company has revealed on Weibo that its first-ever premium flagship will be released on December 9, the same day as the Moto Edge X30.

Realme claims in the Weibo post that it intends to be the first to launch a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 smartphone. However, Motorola may claim that title because the Edge X30 will be available in China as early as December 13th.

Although the specifications have not been confirmed, the GT 2 Pro is expected to include 125W wired charging, 12GB LPDDR5 RAM, and up to 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage. It will sport a 6.51-inch AMOLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate. The flagship device is reported to have a 32MP selfie camera as well as a 50MP primary sensor with OIS.

Realme has yet to share the specifics of the announcement, but it seems unlikely that the company will unveil its first ultra-premium flagship without lavish marketing.
