Here’s What The Apple iPhone Flip Will Look Like [Images]

After Samsung’s bendy Galaxy Z Fold 3 and clamshell Galaxy Z Flip 3, a reincarnation of the Motorola Razr, and even Google said to be working on a foldable Pixel, Apple appears to be joining the foldable smartphone bandwagon, with rumours of a foldable iPhone gaining traction.

Since 2017, analysts and leakers have been pushing the release date back, and rumours and wish lists have only grown in popularity.

While the iPhone Flip’s release date appears to be a changing target, Youtuber ardstudiodesign has made a concept render video of the forthcoming foldable iPhone, which is expected to launch in 2023.

The Youtuber’s gadget render is quite similar to a prototype design revealed last year by Graphic designer Technizo, which had a design influenced by Samsung’s previously released Galaxy Z Flip3. The smartphone is depicted in the render with a triple-camera unit on the left and a secondary screen on the right.

Other high-end flip phone concepts teased by the Youtuber include the gadget becoming waterproof by going portless and having a firmly sealed hinge. He also proposes the iPhone Flip with the Apple M1 chip, which, while appealing as a concept, is impracticable due to its overheating issues, and it will be difficult to keep temperatures under control on such a small foldable gadget.

Apple’s recent push for MagSafe charging, as well as rumours that the company may eliminate actual SIM card slots in future iPhone models, make going portless appear less far-fetched.
